Brighton Make Ready Centre Falmer
A two-storey ambulance Make Ready Centre with associated training facilities, fleet workshop, parking and landscaping has been constructed on a green field site. The Make Ready initiative significantly improves the ambulance service through specially trained operatives deep cleaning, restocking and checking vehicles for mechanical
faults, thereby keeping the vehicles on the road or longer and enabling more time to be spent with patients.
The building comprises the main workshop for the fleet with three vehicle ramps for servicing, and two make ready bays where the ambulances are cleaned and restocked. Further facilities include reception, plant room, stores, training room, meeting room, changing rooms and W.Cs, locker room and kitchen.
The foundations are strip concrete with localised pads under the steel frame columns. The main structure is a portal steel frame with precast concrete planks to the 1st floor and a RC ground bearing slab to the ground floor. The building is clad with insulated composite wall and roof panels and the roof and walls over clad with grey standing seam zinc sheeting. External structures include a vehicle wash with access gantry and jet wash, and an above ground 32,000ltr diesel tank
Extensive external works carried out by the Company’s in-house Groundworks and Civil Engineering Department include over 4750m² of roadworks and parking.
