Hop Oast Redevelopment Horsham West Sussex
The Hop Oast waste depot has been redeveloped as the existing facilities were no longer suitable for a growing demand. The project comprises new offices to accommodate the operational staff together with commercial vehicle workshop facilities, enabling the refuse collection and associated vehicles to be parked, cleaned, and serviced in-house.
The workshop building is steel framed with an insulated external aluminium vertical cladding system, and rainscreen cladding to the offices. The building incorporates a large inspection pit with brake testing facilities, and a mezzanine level to house the plant room and racking for spare parts.
Extensive external works include the formation of a new yard comprising 4,745m² of hard landscaping for vehicle parking, the installation of an underground fuel store, and a new vehicle wash facility.
The offices remained fully operational throughout the contract. Close liaison with the Transport Manager was maintained on a daily basis to ensure safety of all personnel and that the day to day running of the depot continued without disruption.
