Kingston House Gardens
Leatherhead
Surrey
This scheme comprised the demolition of an existing residential estate, originally built in the 1960s, which had been considered to be in poor condition and had little demand among residents at the time, who had expressed a desire to relocate. In its place, a modern three-storey building was constructed, containing 16 flats, alongside 8 three-bedroom townhouses and 8 two-storey houses. These new homes included both affordable and shared-ownership units.
The site was carefully prepared, involving cut and fill excavation and the construction of new retaining walls to create levelled ground. The crushed concrete material from the demolished estate was reused in the grading process.
The works also included multiple service disconnections and diversions, extensive ground remodelling, and the construction of contiguous piled retaining structures. Access to a live HV substation had to be maintained around the clock.
