South Street
Lancing
West Sussex
The South Street redevelopment project in Lancing, West Sussex, was built on what had been an underutilised car park and has since been transformed into a functional housing development.
This project comprises the construction of seven purpose-built dwellings designed to address the urgent need for emergency and temporary accommodation. The site plan features a terrace of homes with private gardens and improved pedestrian access.
Sustainable design was a key focus, employing high insulation standards and provisions for green transport, such as cycle storage and electric vehicle charging points.
The project prioritised community consultation, which led to adjustments in design, including reduced housing units for better spacing and the addition of a communal bin store. Landscaping plans enhance biodiversity while maintaining existing mature trees. Modern construction methods minimised onsite disruption.
